Our involvement in this project has been complete. In addition to architecture, our scope also included the design for Thyssenkrupp to manufacture the cabins. And, from the synergy of both environments, construction and industry, a comprehensive work has emerged, rich in design as well as in detail.
The new complex overlaps the pre-existing building, a hotel designed in the 70s with obsolete services and facilities.
The intervention consists in spreading an environmental layer with universal accesibility, giving a future to the previous construction with the implementation of green systems and accessible transportation.
The old cover, full of slopes and with obsolete uses and services, will host the set of measures aimed at reducing the hotel's energy consumption, the land used in new plantations and the pools, in which the water bodies exchange heat using the renewable heating system.
The air chamber generated in this space provides ventilation and cooling for spaces, reducing the need for energy input.
The Modernisation, Improvement and Competitiveness Increase Plan for the Mogán Coast, which develops the Law on Tourist Renovation and Modernisation of the Canary Islands, were the necessary tools behind the renaissance of a hotel that never lost its charm but can now be shown to the world as an example.
